The room at The Gatehouse Axminster was cozy with a rustic charm that made me feel right at home. The comfortable bed and soft lighting created a warm and inviting atmosphere, perfect for relaxation after a long day of exploring the town.
The bathroom had a shower, which I personally prefer, but others might miss having a bathtub.

The hosts were so helpful and friendly, they kept us in the loop about the roadworks and even gave us some prosecco to apologize. the place was super clean and had lots of natural light. the location was perfect, close to all the cool places we wanted to visit. Plus, there was plenty of space for all four of us!
I wish they had more tea towels and it did get pretty hot inside. But honestly, those were just tiny little things compared to how great everything else was.

The outside of the property could be made cozier with a few flower pots.

Value for money was excellent, the room was immaculate, smartly appointed, and comfortable. The location was perfect for exploring the local area and attending River Cottage courses. The hosts were communicative, friendly, and even left us a good cream tea as a welcome gesture.
Breakfast offerings could be improved with a wider variety of tea towels.

The hotel was immaculate and beautifully decorated, with everything functioning perfectly. The hosts were communicative and even surprised us with a lovely cream tea as a welcome gesture. The location was also ideal, great to easily explore the local area and conveniently close to River Cottage courses. Despite being close to the A35, the hotel was like a tranquil oasis once we turned down the access lane. I would definitely love to return in the future.
